With their star striker Harry Kane out for long time through injury and Son Heung-min away at the Asian Cup, Tottenham Hotspur have suddenly found themselves in some very hot water when it comes to the forward section of their team. Tuttosport have reported that they re looking at Giuseppe Rossi as a potential solution to their problems.
Rossi started his career at Manchester United, but only played a handful of games in two seasons before going out on loan to Newcastle United and Parma. In 2007, he moved to Villarreal. He spent five seasons there, scoring 82 goals in 192 appearances. In January 2013, Fiorentina signed him for €11.8 million. After two more loan spells (with Levante and Celta Vigo), his contract with the Viola expired in 2017, and in December that year he signed for Genoa as a free agent for the rest of the season.
In May 2018, he failed a drug test after a Serie A game with Benevento but escaped with only a warning. Since the start of this month, he s been training with Manchester United, with interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer announcing that the club would not be re-signing their former player.
The report by the Italian outlet claims Spurs are looking to give the 31-year-old a short-term pay-as-you-play deal.
