Jets vs 49ers Picks & Predictions for MNF: Purdy Puts in Leg Work for San Fran

It’s the Aaron Rodgers debut — take two.

The New York Jets QB is hoping for a better result than last year in his return to action against the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football in Week 1.

And while Rodgers’ presence will certainly steal the spotlight, my Jets vs. 49ers prediction focuses on his opponent, Brock Purdy. Find out why Purdy will be on the run tonight in my best NFL picks for September 9.

Editor’s note: This article was written and published prior to the news of Christian McCaffrey being listed as inactive (calf).

World Cup 2018: Samba drums, French farce and Spanish tears in Moscow

The plot to a stunning World Cup has thickened over the past week with the group stages coming to a dramtic denouement.

Although Moscow wasn t at the heart of some of the crunch encounters, it witnessed Brazil s progression and, less noteworthy, the tournament s only goalless draw between France and Denmark.

It also saw the first penalty shoot-out as Russia edged out Spain in the last 16 thanks to two Igor Akinfeev saves.

Take in the colour of the past seven days in Moscow in our Twitter moment below:

Bocanegra lifts US past Honduras in WC2010 qualifier

Carlos Bocanegra dove low to nod home the winning goal in the 68th minute, giving the United States a 2-1 victory over Honduras in a North American 2010 World Cup qualifying match.

Landon Donovan sent a corner kick from right side of Honduran goalkeeper Noel Valladares to the far post, where Clint Dempsey nudged the ball down to the center of the goal area.

A diving Bocanegra nodded the ball into the back of the net for the decider, although the US captain was removed in the 72nd minute after straining a hamstring.

Honduras opened the scoring in the fifth minute after a turnover at midfield by Dempsey led to Carlos Costly s left-footed blast past diving US goalkeeper Tim Howard.

The Americans equalized in the 43rd minute on a Landon Donovan penalty kick …

Martinez confirms he will continue with Belgium after Euro 2020 ´disappointment´

Roberto Martinez has confirmed he will continue as Belgium boss despite overseeing the disappointment of a quarter-final exit at Euro 2020.

The world s number one ranked side breezed through the group stages and defeated Portugal in the round of 16 before seeing their progress halted by Italy.

It had been suggested Martinez could step down after overseeing another major tournament failure for what has often been described as a golden generation of players.

However, the Spaniard has reaffirmed his commitment to the jobs of head coach and technical director for the Royal Belgian Football Association.

The disappointment after the lost game against Italy was great, but the focus is already on the World Cup qualifiers in September and the final four of the Na…

Paris Saint-Germain 2018-19: How dominant title win compares to previous QSI years

Paris Saint-Germain are champions of Ligue 1 again, clinching a sixth title in seven years after Lille failed to beat Toulouse on Sunday.

The Parisians still have six matches remaining but their 16-point gap to Lille, who have played a game more, means a title race that was virtually over before it began is now officially done.

Despite plenty of teams in France s top flight playing attractive football, there is at present no side who appears capable of interrupting PSG s dominance.

No club has been able to match PSG s spending power since the Qatar Sports Investments takeover of 2011, which has transformed them from a top-six side to Ligue 1 s superpower.

Here we assess how Thomas Tuchel s first title win compares to previous years in terms of their supe…

Champions League review: 05th November 2012

Kris Commons scored the penalty that sent Celtic through to the knockout stages of the Champions League

Defending champions Chelsea exited the Champions League on Wednesday night, despite hammering Danish champions Nordsjaelland 6-1 at Stamford Bridge.

The first half was a tale of three penalties. Nordsjaelland’s Nicolai Stokholm and Chelsea’s Eden Hazard both saw efforts saved from the spot-kicks.

However, Brazilian defender David Luiz made no mistake from the spot in the 39th minute to give the Blues the lead. Fernando Torres made it two, at the second time of asking just before the interval.

The Danish champions looked like they were back in it seconds into the second half, Joshua John chipping over Petr Cech to give Nordsjaelland hope of a comeba…

5 Things We Learned From Premier League 2021/22 Season

Another Premier League season has come and gone and what a campaign it was. We had 38 gameweeks full of drama and suspense that went down to the final day of the campaign, just how the masses like it.

Today, we re going to take a look at five big takeaways we have as we enter the summer months and begin the countdown to the new season.

City and Liverpool are too good

Manchester City finished on 93 points, Liverpool finished on 92. The next closest side was Chelsea and they were all the way back in third with 74 points, highlighting just how big the gap is between the top two and the rest of the chasing pack. These clubs have won the last five titles between them and, surprisingly enough, we don t think they re going to be slowing down anytime soon.

NFL Player Prop Bets for Wild Card Round: Rams Michel Rumbles Through Cardinals Defense

It’s Super Wild Card weekend and we’ve hit the books hard this week, looking into every NFL market in search of value and great numbers — so you don’t have to.

We’re hitting the Over on a pair of running back props, jumping on the Dak Prescott bandwagon, and betting on the bromance of Tom and Rob.

Week 18 NFL Parlay Picks: Dallas Ends Regular Season With a Bang

A typical buzzword for the last week of the NFL season is “motivation,” and that couldn’t be more true this year.

We have our usual slate of 16 games, but plenty of clubs have already been eliminated from postseason contention, or have no way to improve their playoff seeding.

Add to that the cases of the Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals — both of whom would be forgiven if they’re more occupied with the health of Damar Hamlin rather than their respective opponents this Sunday — and it makes for many complicated Week 18 matchups for handicappers.

However, I’ve parsed things down to four bets that I feel fairly confident in, which will be broken up into a pair of two-leg parlays. Without further ado, …
